Which Sales Platforms Offer Conversation Intelligence for German Sales Calls?
Most conversation intelligence platforms are built for English first. For German sales calls the question is less which tool has the longest feature list and more which one handles German speech, mixed German and English, data location and the works council. Here is what to check, and where Kalima fits.
Short answer: several international conversation intelligence suites, Gong among them, transcribe German calls. Check the current language list with each vendor, because support differs by feature: a tool can transcribe German and still write its summaries or scores in English. For a German sales team, five checks matter more than the feature list: German recognition including English terms in the middle of a sentence, where the data is processed, whether a bot joins the call, what the works council has to approve, and what language the AI output comes in. Kalima is not a full conversation intelligence suite. It is the transcription and search layer for German sales calls: live transcripts with language switching, AI summaries, search across all calls, servers in Germany and no bot in the call.
Five checks for German sales calls
1. German with English in the middle
German sales calls are rarely pure German. "Wir brauchen das Feature bis zum Q3-Review" is a normal sentence. Ask for a trial on your own recorded calls, not on a demo file, and listen for product names, English terms and dialect.
2. Where the data is processed
Ask where audio and transcripts are stored, where the AI runs and which subprocessors are involved. "EU hosting" can mean anything from storage in Frankfurt to a worldwide network.
3. A bot in the call, or not
Many tools join the call as a visible participant. German customers often ask who that is, and some companies block such bots outright. Recording on your own device avoids that question, but you still have to tell the customer that you are recording.
4. The works council
Scores per rep, talk-time rankings and leaderboards are exactly what makes a tool able to monitor performance. In Germany that needs co-determination. A tool that stays at topics and transcripts is easier to agree on. See works councils and AI transcription.
5. The language of the output
Check whether summaries, action items and search work in German, not just the transcript.
Full suite or transcription layer
| You need | Full conversation intelligence suite | Kalima |
|---|---|---|
| Deal scoring and forecasts | Usually included | Not included |
| Rankings and scorecards per rep | Usually included | Not included, by design |
| German live transcript with speaker labels | Check per vendor | Yes, and the language is detected automatically, even when it switches mid-call |
| AI summary in German | Check per vendor | Yes, with decisions and action items |
| Search across all calls | Usually included | Yes, across every call you can open |
| Bot in the customer's call | Often | No, recording happens on your own computer |
| Data location | Check per vendor | Servers in Germany, AI processing in EU data centres, no AI training on your data |
| CRM | Usually built in | Summaries to HubSpot or Salesforce through Zapier, Make or n8n |
If you need forecasting and coaching scores, a full suite is the right category. If you mainly need to know what was said on your German calls and want it in the CRM, the transcription layer is enough and much easier to introduce.
Kalima on German calls
- Language switching: Kalima detects the spoken language and labels each part of the transcript, so the English sentence in a German call is transcribed as English.
- Company terms: on company accounts, admins can keep a vocabulary list of product and customer names for the whole company and per team, which applies to every new recording.
- Translation: for international calls, Kalima translates live into more than 60 languages, one way or two way.
- Consent: tell the customer at the start of the call that you are transcribing. Our consent wording has sentences you can use.
