Send meeting summaries to Slack

When Kalima finishes the AI summary of a recording, the overview, decisions and action items appear in the Slack channel you choose, with a link back to the full transcript.

Set it up once with Zapier, n8n or Make. After that, nobody has to write up a meeting for the people who missed it.

The outcome in the channel, not just in someone's notes

Most teams already agree that a meeting's outcome belongs in the channel. What fails is the write-up: it takes ten minutes, and it depends on whoever took notes remembering to post them.

Kalima writes the summary from the transcript. The integration posts it. The same works for client calls, interviews, stand-ups and lectures you record or upload.

Why meeting outcomes never reach the channel

The information exists. Getting it to the right people is the gap.

1

Write-ups depend on one person

If the note-taker is busy or out, the people who missed the meeting never hear what was decided.

2

Long transcripts nobody reads

Pasting a full transcript into Slack drowns the channel. People need the decisions and the tasks, with the details one click away.

3

Context gets lost between tools

A summary without a link to the recording leaves no way to check what was actually said.

How to post Kalima summaries to Slack

The steps with Zapier. With n8n or Make it works the same way through an API key.

01

Connect Kalima to Zapier

In Kalima, open Settings, Integrations and, on the Zapier card, Go to Zapier. Approve access in the Kalima window that opens.

02

Choose New AI Summary as the trigger

Optionally limit it to one project or workspace, so only the recordings of one team reach its channel.

03

Add Slack's Send Channel Message

Pick the channel and map the fields: the recording name, the overview, decisions, action items and the recording link.

04

Test it and turn it on

Zapier shows a sample from your account. From then on, each new summary is posted once.

What arrives in Slack

Separate fields, so you decide what the message shows.

Overview and key points

A few sentences on what the conversation was about, followed by the points that matter.

Decisions and open questions

What was settled and what still needs an answer, each as its own list.

Action items with owners

Each task with the person and the due date as they were named in the conversation.

A link to the recording

Opens the recording in Kalima for anyone with access to it. For people outside your account, add Create Share Link before the Slack step.

Ways teams use it

One trigger, different channels.

Keep a project channel up to dateNew AI Summary limited to one Kalima projectOnly that project's meetings reach its channel
Remind people of their tasksNew Action Item, Slack's Find User by Name, then a direct messageEach task sent to the person named as its owner

Before you record

Kalima runs on your own device, so nobody in the meeting sees it. That is exactly why you should announce it: tell everyone before you start and ask for their consent. If you use Kalima at work, agree on it with your data protection officer and, where there is one, your works council first.

Slack questions

Common questions about sending Kalima summaries to Slack.

Yes, and that is a separate topic: the Kalima desktop app transcribes the audio of a huddle on your computer. This page is about sending the results of any recording to Slack.
Zapier needs Kalima Plus or higher. n8n and Make connect with an API key, which needs Pro or higher.
Kalima starts a summary automatically after recordings of at least five minutes with enough speech, and you can create one manually for any recording. The integration posts it the next time it checks for new items.
Yes. Replace the Slack step with a Microsoft Teams message in Zapier, n8n or Make, and map the same fields.
