Managing Your Subscription

Upgrade, downgrade, pause, or cancel your plan.

Your subscription is fully self-serve. From the Billing dashboard you can move to a different plan, switch between monthly and annual billing, take a break by pausing, or cancel altogether, and every change is reflected right away. This page walks through each option and what it means for your access and charges.

Everything below lives in the Subscription Management card of your Billing dashboard. All changes are handled securely and your invoices and receipts update automatically.

Note

These controls apply to a personal subscription. If your access is provided by your organization or team, you manage billing through that organization or team's admin instead, see Billing & seats.

Changing your plan

You can move up or down between paid plans, or switch between monthly and annual billing, at any time.

Upgrades take effect immediately

When you upgrade, for example from Plus to Pro for more weekly minutes and AI usage, the change applies right away. You're charged a prorated amount that covers only the price difference for the rest of your current billing period, so you don't pay twice for time you've already covered.

1
Open Subscription Management in your Billing dashboard, or the Upgrade Plan dialog.
2
Select the new plan and choose Monthly or Annual billing.
3
Review the proration preview, which shows exactly what you'll be charged now.
4
Confirm to apply the change. A success screen shows your receipt, and the new limits are active immediately.
Idea

Switching from monthly to annual is treated as a plan change too. Annual billing lowers your effective monthly price by about 17% across paid plans. See Plans & pricing for the full comparison.

Downgrades apply at the end of the period

When you downgrade to a smaller plan, the change takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep your current plan's limits and features until then, so you never lose access mid-cycle. After the switch, you're billed at the lower rate going forward.

Previewing the cost

Before you confirm any plan change, Kalima shows a proration preview so there are no surprises. Upgrades show the immediate prorated charge; downgrades take effect at period end with no charge now.

Note

You can only run the change-plan flow if you have an active subscription. If you're on Free, choose a plan from Plans & pricing or the Billing dashboard to subscribe through checkout instead. And if your access is already covered by an organization or team subscription, you can't buy or change a separate personal plan.

Pausing your subscription

Need a break without losing your account? You can pause an active subscription instead of cancelling it.

1
Open Subscription Management in your Billing dashboard.
2
Choose Pause and pick a length of 1, 2, or 3 months.
3
Confirm. Billing is suspended and your resume date is shown.
4
Your plan resumes automatically on that date, or use Resume to restart earlier.

While paused, billing is suspended for the duration you chose, and your plan picks up automatically when the pause ends. Only active subscriptions can be paused, and the pause length is limited to one to three months.

Note

A pause is separate from your prepaid credits. Purchased credits never expire monthly, so any top-up balance you hold stays available.

Cancelling your subscription

You can cancel whenever you like. By default, cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, so you keep full access until then and simply stop being billed afterward. You may optionally share a reason.

1
Open Subscription Management in your Billing dashboard.
2
Choose Cancel.
3
If a save offer appears, you can accept it or continue cancelling.
4
Pick cancel at end of period (recommended) and confirm.

After cancellation completes, your account reverts to Free plan limits. If you cancel at period end, that happens when the period closes; immediate cancellation ends paid access right away.

Idea

Changed your mind? If you set your subscription to cancel at period end, you can resume (un-cancel) it any time before the period closes, and your plan continues uninterrupted.

The save offer

When you begin cancelling an active subscription, Kalima may present a retention offer so you can stay on more affordably instead of leaving:

  • 25% off for 3 months, keeping your current plan at a reduced rate.
  • A 1-month pause, a short break instead of cancelling.

You can accept an offer or continue with cancellation. The save offer is only shown on active subscriptions.

Subscription statuses

You may see one of these statuses on your subscription. Here's what each means in plain terms:

StatusWhat it means
ActiveYour plan is current and all features are available.
Past dueA payment failed. Update your card to restore billing before access is affected. See Payments & invoices.
PausedBilling is suspended and will resume on the date you chose.
CanceledThe subscription has ended (or is set to end at period close); access reverts to Free limits.
Note

If you see past due, a payment didn't go through. Open the dunning banner or your Billing dashboard and update your payment method promptly so your subscription doesn't lapse. Details are in Payments & invoices.

Frequently asked questions

No. By default, cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, so you keep full access until then. Only an immediate cancellation ends access right away. After the subscription ends, you revert to Free plan limits.

Upgrades are prorated and invoiced immediately for the remaining part of your billing period. The proration preview shows the exact amount before you confirm. Downgrades, by contrast, apply at the end of the period with no charge now.

Yes. You can pause an active subscription for 1 to 3 months with an automatic resume date, and resume early if you want. A 1-month pause may also be offered as a save option when you start to cancel.

Prepaid credits you bought don't expire monthly and remain usable. Your transcripts and recordings stay in your account, subject to your plan's storage limits. See Usage & quotas and Your data & privacy.

Two common reasons: you don't have an active subscription yet (subscribe through checkout from the Billing dashboard instead), or your access is already covered by an organization or team subscription, in which case billing is managed by that org or team's admin.

Yes. Switching billing interval is handled like any plan change. Annual billing lowers your effective monthly price by about 17% across paid plans.
