Kalima on Your Phone
Record, read, and search your sessions in your phone's browser: the tab bar, the record button, swipe gestures, transcript search, and what happens to a recording when you switch apps.
Open Kalima in your phone's browser and the Studio switches to a layout made for one hand: a bar at the bottom with four tabs, a large record button in its middle, and full-screen pages for every session. Your account, sessions, and settings are the same as on your computer.
The phone layout appears on phones. Tablets and computers show the regular Studio. To open Kalima like an app, add it to your home screen from your browser's share or menu button.
Find your way around
Kalima opens on a new session, ready to record. The bar at the bottom switches between four tabs:
| Tab | What you find there |
|---|---|
| Sessions | All your sessions, grouped by day, with a search that also looks inside transcripts |
| Projects | Your projects and the sessions filed in them |
| Tasks | The tasks from your summaries, grouped by session, for the last 7 days, 30 days, or all time. Tap a session to see its tasks |
| Profile | The recording time you have left, your account, usage, settings, help, and feedback, each on a page of its own |
The record button in the middle brings you back to the new session. On the new session, it starts the recording right away.
Record on your phone
In a phone's browser, Kalima records through the microphone. Browsers on phones can't capture the sound of other apps, so for a video call with everyone in it, record on a computer with Computer audio (see Audio Sources & Quality).
While a recording runs, a dock keeps the running time, a Moment button, and Stop within reach. Kalima keeps the screen on and shows the session name with a stop control on the lock screen and in the notification area.
Phones can pause a browser that runs in the background. Keep Kalima in front while you record. If your phone stopped the recording in the background, Kalima asks when you return whether to continue where it left off.
To transcribe a file from your phone instead, tap Or transcribe a file on the new session. The file opens in a full-screen view with a player. See Transcribe an Uploaded File.
Read a session
A session opens on its transcript. Swipe left or right to move between its tabs: Transcript, Summary, AI tools, Chat, and Moments. The session name scrolls away with the transcript, so the text gets the whole screen.
- Search inside the transcript: tap the magnifier in the top bar while the transcript is open. The bar turns into a search field: every match is highlighted, a counter shows where you are, and the arrows jump between matches. Done brings the bar back.
- Copy or listen to a paragraph: press and hold it to copy it or have it read aloud.
- Listen back: the player sits below the transcript. Your phone's lock screen and the buttons on your headphones control it too.
- Summaries, chat, plans, and top-ups open as full pages made for the phone.
Manage sessions
- Swipe a session right to rename it, or left to delete it or move it into a project.
- Press and hold a session to open all its actions.
- Pull the list down to refresh it.
- Search from the field under the title of Sessions. Hits show the word you searched for and open the transcript just before it.
Frequently asked questions
Not yet. Use Kalima in your phone's browser, and add it to your home screen to open it like an app.
Not with everyone in it. A phone's browser can't capture the sound of other apps, so Kalima only hears what reaches the microphone. Record calls on a computer with Computer audio, or with the desktop app.
A locked screen can end the microphone in the browser. Kalima keeps the screen on for as long as the recording runs and lets it lock again afterwards.
Yes. The session opens read-only on the phone, so you can follow along. The recording stays on the device that started it.
